#AskDrEL: Can I Eat Sashimi, Half-Boiled Eggs, and What Other Foods Should I Avoid During Pregnancy?

We know you’re craving that sushi platter, but here’s the deal—raw and undercooked foods can carry bacteria and parasites that may harm you and your baby. That means sashimi, half-boiled eggs, and soft cheeses like brie and camembert should be off the menu (for now!).

Also, limit high-mercury fish like swordfish, raw bean sprouts, unpasteurized milk, and deli meats unless they’re heated properly. But don’t worry—there are plenty of safe and delicious alternatives to keep both you and baby happy!
